Time Toxicity

Have you heard of the term "time toxicity?

We just recorded our first episode coming back into season 5 and time toxicity was something we talked about. The episode will be released soon but I must say, I haven't stopped thinking about this term. It refers to the invisible burden of treatments and the toll it has on the person and their family.

So do listen to the episode when it comes out (it is so good!!) but in the meantime, it's worth taking a moment to reflect on what invisible burdens exist for our children and their families.
A really interesting conversation - it definitely makes you consider "time" in a different light.

Really interesting - I look forward to listening! I imagine this time toxicity is often invisible but I think there are times where that burden of treatment/therapy/appointments/hospital admissions is visibly taking a toll on a family. Sometimes I've seen it to be subtle things or passing comments, and other times a real outburst from stress or tiredness. I feel like taking time to build a foundation of a trusting professional relationship is important to open the door for us to be able to have genuine check-ins with caregivers. And sometimes, where safe and appropriate, stopping treatments or therapies for a period of time can be a really helpful thing to reduce that burden and allow the family to stop, reset, and connect with one another.
