In our last episode pre-EACD/IAACD 2025 - we catch up with the wonderful Dr Nathalie De Beukelaer!

It's all about her article: Longitudinal trajectory of medial gastrocnemius muscle growth in the first years of life, published in DMCN 2024. . A returning guest and a great friend of the show, Dr Beukelaer comes to us by way of Université de Genève - a postdoctoral researcher at the Kinesiology Laboratory (K-LAB) of the University of Geneva, where she investigates neuro-biomechanical determinants in infants at high risk for motor impairments, and KU Leuven  (Belgium), in the PRONTO research lab, on a project investigating early visual development in relation to bimanual control in preterm-born infants during the first two years of life.

She earned her Master of Science in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Sciences and completed her PhD in Biomedical Sciences at KU Leuven in November 2022. Since joining K-LAB in February 2023, her research has focused on the early detection of abnormal motor function by integrating movement analysis, brain imaging, and muscle ultrasound. Her work is particularly relevant to conditions such as cerebral palsy and prematurity, aiming to enhance early intervention strategies in pediatric populations.
